Pattern: The One-Stop Beanie
This is one of my favorite patterns. I don’t know about you, but in my experience I have had to search for a beanie pattern depending on if it was for a child, newborn or adult. Not every pattern includes the sizing for all ages. I also struggled with how big to make the beanie (if it was a gift where I couldn’t measure the person’s head). I have created a sizing chart that provides you with the tools to make a beanie for anyone; no matter the age. And the best part? You don’t need to measure their head! The sizing chart is based on age group.
When I began making beanies (a typical beginner project) I was constantly measuring my head along with my family members to make sure it was the right size. It worked except I was measuring just about every row!
For beanies I like to use a soft medium weight yarn. Some of my favorites are Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Super Saver and Impeccable. You can use any medium weight that you prefer. This pattern uses an I/ 5.5mm hook. For the example below (see images) I used Red Heart Super Saver in the color Blue. The amount of yarn needed will vary depending on the size beanie being made.

**This pattern will vary depending on the size you are making. Refer to the sizing chart.**
*This chart is an estimation.
Note: Continue increasing until beanie is as wide as the chart states for the corresponding size. The pattern below continues to the large adult size. If you are making a smaller size, stop increasing when the width of the circle matches the width stated in the chart. See the images below.
Pattern:
Begin with a magic ring OR ch3 and connect to first chain.
Round 1: Ch 2. 10 dc into ring. Sl st to the top of ch 2. (10)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2 Dc in each around. Sl st to the top of ch 2c. (20)
Round 3: Ch 2. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next. Repeat from * around. End with Sl st to the top of ch 2. (30)
Round 4: Ch 2. *Dc in next 2 stitches, 2 dc in next. Repeat from * around. End with Sl st to the top of ch 2. (40)
Round 5: Ch 2. *Dc in next 3 stitches, 2 dc in next. Repeat from * around. End with Sl st to the top of ch 2. (50)
Round 6: Ch 2. *Dc in next 4 stitches, 2 dc in next. Repeat form * around. Sl st to the top of ch 2. (60)
Round 7: Dc in each stitch around. Repeat this row until beanie is the desired height. Refer to sizing chart for the estimated height for each size. (Ex: A large adult would be a height of 8.5 inches. See image below.) (60)
Round 8: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Sl st to the top of ch 1. Cut yarn and weave in end. (60)
**The blue beanie above was made for the Large Adult size.
