If you’re like me you love summer and want to celebrate everyday! This bag is the perfect accessory to keep that spirit alive all year long! If you’ve been following along with me for a while, then you know I LOVE the beach. My whole life I have lived near the coast and the beach has been a frequent destination. This bag design was inspired by the many shades of blue seen in the ocean waves.

This messenger bag is perfect for a trip to the beach, a night out or back-to-school! You can easily fit in all your essentials like wallet, keys, phone and a project! 😉

This bag is made using Basic Stitch from Lion Brand. This yarn is a very soft and versatile yarn. I love that it comes in so many color options! For this design I was able to choose 3 colors to create an ombre gradient. The colors used are steel blue (dark blue), coastal (medium blue) and baby blue (light blue). I also bought these purse rings and faux leather adjustable purse strap from Joann’s. I am quite tall so I loved that this strap was adjustable to fit the length I needed.

This pattern an intermediate design and uses half double crochet, double crochet, granny square technique and seaming. I also highly recommend blocking your squares before seaming to ensure your edges line up right.

You can get this pattern in August’s issue of Happily Hooked Magazine! This premium pattern is also available for download on both Ravelry and Etsy.

Happy Stitching,
Jess
