Earth Day Pattern Bundle

Every year on April 22nd we celebrate Earth Day to raise awareness about the plant and the environmental issues concerning us all.

History:

The first Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970. In January 1969, there was a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. Inspired by student activists, Senator Nelson wanted to take their idea and expand upon it to raise awareness. He recruited Denis Hayes, who was a young activist. Hayes was recruited to create a teach-in on campus. They picked April 22nd to host the event. Following this, in 1970 the first Earth Day was established. The first Earth Day led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the passage of several environmental laws.

Today:

Each year the Earth Day Network organizers choose an environmental priority to highlight on Earth Day. This year that priority is climate action to bring awareness to climate change and its affects on our planet.
