First, I’d like to introduce myself to you. My name is Jess and I have a passion for creating and making. I love to crochet and have been doing so since 2015. When I was around 10 years old my grandma tried to teach me to crochet. I tried to learn but just didn’t have the patience for it at that age.
When I was 18 I decided to give it a shot again. I went online where I watched countless videos about crocheting. After a few weeks I had successfully made a beanie. I continued to tone my skills through various beginner projects. One of those projects was a simple round hot pad. This was my first time creating something I envisioned. (This hot pad also became my first published pattern on my blog). I decided to send this hot pad to my grandma, who wasn’t aware I began crocheting. Needless to say, she was very surprised. Her grandma had taught her to crochet when she was around 16. She tried to teach her daughters and granddaughters (I’m the youngest granddaughter). Now she has a granddaughter who crochets and truly enjoys the craft.
I was born and raised in the Golden State in sunny San Diego. This is my inspiration for the Sun and Sand in my site title.
I am a big advocate for environmental awareness and sustainability. Through my blog and patterns I hope to educate and inspire you to live a more environmentally conscientious lifestyle.
I look forward to sharing my creative journey with you!
