Like many, I have been trying to find ways to be more respectful to our planet. One of these ways is reducing the use of plastic. This pattern was created to replace that need.
Did you know that the average American throws away 185 pound of plastic per year?! That’s crazy!
This pouch is made with recycled cotton yarn and a cotton liner so it can be washed and reused again and again.
This pouch is perfect to hold your stitch markers, sewing notions, tags and more! It can even be used in your daily life as a substitute for plastic snack bags. You could fill this bag with crackers or trail mix and then throw it in the wash to use again.
These pouches would be a great item to have at spring and summer markets. They are customizable and can be made in any color. They would be cute with a printed fabric liner. They are fairly quick to make so you could make a variety for your market!

Materials:
– 1 skein of cotton re-up yarn by Lionbrand (Note: one skein is enough to make 2 pouches).
– Crochet hook size G/ 4mm
– Yarn needle
– Sewing thread
– Sewing needle
– Scissors
Gauge:
17 stitches by 20 rows should measure approximately 4 inches by 4 inches.
Stitches used:
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Pouch:
Chain 35.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd loop from the hook (34).
Row 2- 37: Ch 1 and turn. Sc in each stitch across (34).
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Liner:
Cut a piece of cotton fabric to the size of the pouch. Sew the liner to the pouch with thread.
Seaming:
Fold 3 corners inward.
Sew along the seams with yarn and a yarn needle.
Attach a button onto the front.
Attach yarn to the corner that is not seamed (this will be the opening of the pouch). Chain 10 stitches. Sl st back into the same space. Cut yarn and weave in end.
